Want to share your Instagram profile with someone? It’s now easier than ever thanks to Instagram profile cards. In this article, I demonstrate how you can create your Instagram profile card to seamlessly connect with others.
Good to know: here’s how you can use the Instagram Archive feature to hide posts from your profile.
What’s an Instagram Profile Card?
Instagram has recently introduced profile cards. These are akin to digital business cards and you can generate yours from your Instagram profile. These cards contain general information about you, including your handle, profile picture and the information you’ve chosen to share in your Bio section. On top of that, Instagram also includes a QR code, so whoever scans the code can easily access your profile.
This removes the need to share your Instagram handle or share your profile link with others. It’s also a more convenient way to spread the word regarding your Instagram account. You can even print your Instagram profile card for real-life sharing.
Create an Instagram Profile Card
You can generate your Instagram profile card from the mobile app or the web version of Instagram on PC.
Open the Instagram app on your phone and go to your profile page.
Press on the Share profile button that’s next to the Edit profile one.

Instagram will automatically create a profile card for you which, on the front side, contains a QR code and your Instagram handle by default. Tap on the card, to reveal the backside.

Note: the profile card will not appear on your Instagram profile. You can manually generate it from your profile whenever you need it.
This side features your profile image, handle, and bio. In my case, the bio includes a link and music bar (an extract to a song I opted to share on my profile.) While these show up on your card, they aren’t actionable.

You can immediately share this card via the options available at the bottom:
- Via social media apps (X, Facebook, WhatsApp, Threads, or others.) Sharing like this will generate a link. When clicked it will reveal the profile card
- Add it to your Story
- Send it as an SMS
- Copy the link and then share it via email or other means
- If you wish to print the profile card, there’s also the option to Download it to your device. If you opt for this option, you will be able to modify the color of the QR code before downloading.
When downloaded the QR code to your device, it will look like this. You can also opt to download the Profile info side.

If you are using a PC, navigate to your Instagram profile. In the upper right corner, click on the gear icon.

Select the QR Code option.
Instagram will generate your profile card. Unlike on mobile, this card only has one side which includes the profile QR code and handle.

You can download it from there. Then share it with others in whatever fashion you like.
Tip: learn how to download your Instagram chats complete with media.
Edit Your Instagram Profile Card
If you’re not happy with your Instagram’s default profile card, the good news is that you can modify some aspects of it.
Go ahead and create a profile card just like I showed you above. Then instead of sharing it immediately, press the pencil button in the upper right corner.
If you select the first option Edit profile, you can modify the image or information that shows on the back of your profile card. For instance, you might want to change your profile picture to a selfie to make the card more attractive or add your email address in the Bio. If you, so you can do that comfortably from here.

The next option Change background, allows you to change the background of the card to any image you want. You can upload it from your mobile device.

Finally, the Change color option allows you to modify the accent color on the QR code and Instagram username.
Note: these last two editing options only apply for the QR code and won’t be applied on the other side of the card.
In the web version of Instagram, editing options for your profile card are limited. You can only change the accent color for your OR codes. There are a handful of options available, but that’s it.

Tip: Instagram now has notes, here’s how to use them.
Instagram profile cards make it easier to expand your Instagram following list. In addition, check these methods of finding constants on Instagram that work. Conversely, if you’re actually more of a private person, learn how to hide your Instagram account and prevent other users from finding you.
