Have you ever found yourself scrolling through your LinkedIn feed, only to encounter content or interactions that leave you feeling annoyed, uncomfortable, or unsafe? Sometimes, the best solution is to block that negativity’s source. In this guide, we’ll show you how to block someone on LinkedIn and create a more peaceful online professional space.
Tip: Learn more about LinkedIn before you learn to block someone.
What Happens When You Block Someone on LinkedIn
Before you block anyone on LinkedIn, you have to understand what consequences it will bring:
- LinkedIn won’t tell users when they’re blocked, so the person won’t know you blocked them unless they try to see your profile or interact with your content.
- The blocked person can not view your LinkedIn profile or any of its content.
- If you were connected, the connection is automatically severed.
- You will no longer receive notifications from the blocked person, such as likes, comments, or messages.
- Any conversations you had with the blocked person on LinkedIn will disappear from both your and their inboxes.
- The blocked person cannot see your posts, comments, or other activity in groups you both belong to.
- LinkedIn will stop suggesting you to each other in features like “People You May Know.”
- You and the blocked user will lose any endorsements or recommendations you gave each other.

Block Someone from a LinkedIn Company Page
You can’t block someone on a LinkedIn company page because they’re public. Unlike personal profiles, company pages are open to everyone, so anyone can see them. You can block people from seeing your personal profile, but there’s no way to stop specific people from seeing a company page.
However, you can still manage problematic exchanges on your company page. These are other things you can do.
- Monitor and Moderate Comments: Regularly check comments on your posts. Delete comments that are offensive, spammy, or irrelevant to the discussion.
- Engage with Positive Comments: Respond to positive comments and questions instead of focusing on the negative ones to create a welcoming atmosphere. Share comments and posts that add value to the conversation.
- Set Clear Guidelines: Clearly outline acceptable behavior and expectations for interactions on your company page. Help your followers to understand the guidelines and the consequences of violating them.
- Restrict Content Visibility: You can choose who sees your company page updates on LinkedIn. You can share them with just followers, employees, or specific company groups. This gives you control over who interacts with your content.
- Utilize Community Management Tools: Use third-party social media management tools like Sprout Social or Hootsuite to manage your company page. These tools can automatically hide comments that contain certain words or phrases.
