We’ve all been there: you’re deep into binging a great show, then don’t get a chance to binge more of it for a few weeks. Once you get back into it, it’s hard to remember what happened in the story and where you left off. Amazon Prime Video has a cure for this: AI will provide a recap of what you’ve seen so far.
Amazon Prime Video X-Ray Recaps
X-Ray Recaps for Amazon Prime Video could be the best thing to come to home entertainment. If you’re watching an entire season of a series, you’re bound to either forget part of a plot line or forget to put the television on pause when leaving for a bathroom break.
No matter the situation, X-Rray Recaps can help you. You don’t need to hit the rewind button searching for where you left off or spend the first 20 minutes of a new episode trying to remember what was happening the last time you watched the series.

X-Ray Recaps is powered by generative AI. It will create summaries of full seasons of a show, just one episode, or even part of an episode. According to Amazon, the recap will summarize up to the “exact minute” you left off. It will deliver snippets via text of the cliffhangers, plot points, and other important moments and can be requested at any point.
Tip: learn how to turn off the Audio Descriptions Accessibility feature.
X-Ray already adds helpful tidbits to Amazon Prime Video content, providing information about the cast and soundtrack, as well as behind-the-scenes footage while you’re watching a show. Recaps adds to that, once again prividng helpful information.
Amazon Prime Video Vice President of Product Adam Gray said, “With this context-aware functionality, Prime Video will deliver summaries of memorable moments and important plot points, so our customers can quickly jump back into what they were watching or rediscover why they fell in love with a series in the first place.”

Never Rewatch to Find What You Missed Again
Amazon Bedrock powers X-Ray Recaps in Prime Video, so it bricks “a fully managed AWS service for building and scaling generative AI applications with foundational models.” Amazon models trained on Amazon SageMaker works in tandem with Amazon Bedrock models. This creates video segments, subtitles, and dialogue to generate the descriptions.
But all that is a fancy way to say X-Ray Recaps will provide that missing information for you when watching Prime Video. Launch it from the detail page while watching your show. Choose from summaries of episodes, the season, or the previous season.

If you’re worried you’ll accidentally learn about an upcoming plot twist, Amazon says there are guardrails in place to prevent that. It’s easy to see the spoilers on your own when trying to find the spot where you left off before you dozed off, so it’s great to learn that this AI will prevent that.
Amazon Prime Video X-Ray Recaps is currently in beta but is available for Fire TV users in the United States. Additional devices will be supported by the end of the year. The AI can be used on all Amazon MGM Studios Original series. Of course, this is with the note that Amazon has already announced it will be airing more ads in your content. But at least now you can walk away during that time with no concerns that you’ll miss an important part of your show.
