If you have an Anker speaker, hopefully this headline made you stop to read more. It’s a very serious request that you should stop using it now. The Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speaker has been recalled, as they can overheat, then start on fire or cause a further burn hazard.

FYI: learn about the high-tech exercise bikes that Peloton recalled.

Anker Recalls Speakers

Fire hazard recalls can be dangerous. I had a 1983 Pontiac Fiero. It was red, too. It was a hot car. But within months of getting it, it was recalled, as these cars had a propensity to start on fire – without the keys even being in the ignition. For the rest of the time I owned the car, every time I was driving it, I could swear I smelled something burning.

Just as I didn’t want that in my garage, you don’t want to have a Bluetooth speaker in your home that could potentially start a blaze. It’s best to just get it out of your home.

Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speaker Recall

Approximately 69,000 Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speakers, model A3102, sold in the U.S. and 9,764 in Canada, by Amazon between March 2023 and October 2023 are involved in this recall. Also recalled is the A3302 PowerConf speakerphones.

There have been 33 known reports involving the lithium-ion batteries built into the speakers. Some of these reports are of speakers that were smoking and starting on fire. At least one is known to have caused an injury.

If you have one of the affected model numbers, head to Soundcore, and enter your serial number to see if it is affected by the recall.

What to Do If You Have One of These Speakers

Anker and Amazon have reportedly contacted all known buyers of the recalled Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speakers. However, not every buyer is the current owner. The buyers could have given it away as a gift, sold it as a preowned device, thrown it away when it stopped working, etc.

If you have one of these affected speakers, regardless of whether you have been contacted, immediately stop using it, turn it off, and disconnect it from the power source. Contact Anker about a replacement.

While it could potentially be a bad situation, Anker and Amazon did the right thing by recalling the fire hazard. Looking to replace your Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speaker? Check out some of the best rugged speakers and waterproof speakers.
