How We Test Products

Reviews have always been a mainstay of our content at Make Tech Easier, and we have continued to take them in many directions. If you’re wondering if our Review program is right for you, it may help to learn about our process.

What We Need From You

You will need to ship us the product at your expense. We cannot write a review if we don’t get the chance to try the products ourselves. The companies we deal with often ask us for our company address: where they should send the product to. But we don’t have just one address – we have many, as our reviewers live across the globe.

If you have specific geographical considerations, we can work with you. Unless arranged beforehand, we will not return the product to you. If you would like it returned, you need to arrange it beforehand and supply a prepaid return shipping label, at your expense.

Constructing the Review

It’s important to know that we do very thorough testing. Whether it’s a mini PC, of which we’ve reviewed many, a business projector to streamline your meetings, or an ergonomic chair, to keep you comfortable throughout your work, gaming, and streaming, our reviewers thoroughly test each product in their homes, with their families, and with their own devices.

Pros and cons are listed at the beginning of each review to let our readers know at a quick glance everything we liked about the software, product, etc., as well as which features didn’t live up to the advertised promises.

We will provide an image and/or text, showing everything included in the box. If the product needs additional items, such as materials for a laser engraver or a memory card for a dashcam, you need to supply them along with the product. We will also add images of the setup and usage of the product. All features will be tested.

Publication Notes

The review cannot receive a requested publication date. We will fit it into our schedule as time allows. If you would like to have more control with your review, you may want to check out one of our sponsored review options.

A game changer, or a remarkable product that is much superior to all other competitors.

4.5 stars: Outstanding.

Outstanding in almost every way, with a few minor flaws that don’t affect its functionalities.

Some minor flaws, but still a great product.

3.5 stars: Very Good.

A very good product with a few major issues (or stiff competition)

3 stars: Good.

Not the perfect product, but its good qualities outweigh the bad ones

2.5 stars: Good Enough.

2 stars: Barely Good.

Overpromised and under-delivered.
